FAQs

FAQs

Do I need to pay for all the treatment?

Not necessarily, you can pay all or half the number of aligners.

How often should I change the aligners?

Generally three or four weeks per set of aligners, but depends on the orthodontist’s indications. You should use it for at least 22 hours a day and just remove them to eat and brush your teeth.

How long does the treatment take?

This varies according to the complexity of the treatment and the difference from patient to patient. Treatment may take 5-10 months on average.

Can I see how my teeth will be left at the end of treatment?

We send you a video that will allow you to visualize your virtual treatment plan before you begin, so you can see the appearance of your already aligned teeth before using the aligners.

How prominent are the aligners?

The Rio3D aligners are completely transparent, which makes them much more discreet than the braces, whether they are transparent. People usually do not notice them, however, they can be seen up close if you know what to look for.

Does Rio3D handle patients directly?

No, Rio3D manufactures aligners based on the prescription of Dr. Osvaldo Romero, therefore Dr. Romero will always be remotely monitoring his case since Colombia.

Does Rio3D guarantee perfect results?

The vast majority of patients experience significant improvement in their smiles, but it is impossible to guarantee the outcome of any orthodontic treatment because the results may vary and depends on many factors such as individual cell biology, type of bite and patients discipline in the use of aligners.

Is it mandatory to use retainers after treatment?

To prevent the teeth returning to their initial state it is advisable to use retainers after any orthodontic treatment.

Why do I need aligners for both arches if I just want to change one of the two?

The fixing crowding or spacing always changes your bite. To keep the bite correct, we recommend treating the other arch, too. As gaps are closed, the shape of the arch changes, the arches need to be symmetrical to ensure a well bite, for example the bottom teeth may need to be adjusted, even if you’are primarily concerned with a gap in just one arch. Not only can ignoring the opposing arch cause issues with the bite, it can also result in dental relapse or another problem. If you’are correcting crowding in one arch, you have to widen the shape of the opposing teeth to match or the bite can be affected.

What can I eat with my Rio3D aligners?

Unlike the braces, with our Rio3D system you remove them and you can eat and drink what you want, you can also continue brushing and cleaning your teeth with dental floss to maintain proper oral hygiene.

Is it uncomfortable to wear the aligners?

No, since no wire or metal part will cause oral irritation and you will feel very comfortable.

What are aligners made of?

The aligners are made of a thermoplastic transparent material and BPA-free, once placed are virtually invisible. This material is strong but flexible.
